As a student of acting at Popovsky Performing Arts Studio, you will grow as a well-rounded performer. The studio offers a variety of classes allowing you to explore all that acting has to offer. Through exercises such as improvisation, scene work, and monologue study you will develop and refine those skills needed to be successful on stage. Regardless of which class is taken, you will:

All of these tools allow you, as an actor, to connect with the essential emotional truth of a situation, scene, or character… the ultimate goal in acting. Look to stretch yourself by trying out some of our classes that you might not normally be comfortable taking. Just Getting Started – Acting
1st-3rd Grade Creative Theatre: Mondays 6:00-7:00
1st-3rd Grade Creative Theatre: Thursdays 5:15-6:15
4th/5th Freestyle (Intro to Improv): Tuesdays 6:00 – 7:00 pm
Join us for this fast and fun 12 week class where students will learn to think quickly and creatively as they learn basic improv technique. Students will gain confidence as they create crazy characters and work with partners to improvise fun scenes all straight from their imaginations. This class is perfect for beginners and those with a little more experience. This class will end with a sharing of favorite exercises for an invited audience. Class runs on Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm beginning on March 13th and ending on May 29th.
4th/5th Play Production: Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm
MS Improv: Tuesdays 6:00-7:00pm
This 12 week class will challenge students to think quickly and creatively as they learn improv technique. This class is perfect for beginners and those with more experience and is repeatable as the material changes with each class. This is a very popular class so sign up quickly to reserve your spot in this fun, fast, and funny class. This class ends with a sharing of favorite exercises for an invited audience. This class will meet on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00pm starting March 13th to May 29th.
MS Play Production: Wednesdays 6:00-7:00pm
This 12 week class will take students through the process of putting on a play from audition to performance. Students will act in a scripted play and learn about blocking, character creation, memorization, portraying emotion, and more. Using minimal props and costumes, this class will focus on the acting. We will end this class with a performance of the play for an invited audience. This class will meet on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00pm starting March 14th to May 30th.
HS Improv: Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm
One of our most popular classes is back! Students will be challenged to think quickly and creatively as they learn improv technique. We will work with both long and short form improv as well as group and individual improv. This class is repeatable as the material changes to suit the experience level of the students. Register quickly to reserve your spot in this popular class. This class will meet on Thursdays from 6:00-7:00pm starting March 15th to May 31st.
Adult Monologue: Tuesdays 7:00-8:00pm
This 12 week class will take students through the process of choosing a monologue that really suits them and then bringing that monologue to life. Students may bring in a piece of their choosing or let our experienced teacher help pick the perfect piece. Students will work on creating a believable character, memorization, finding the emotional truth of the character, as well as techniques for audition and performance. Students will have the opportunity to perform their monologues for an audience at our Spring Recital.This class will meet on Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00pm starting March 12th to May 28th.
Adult Improv: Wednesdays 7:00-8:00pm
Join us for this fast and fun 12 week class! Students will challenge themselves to think quickly and creatively as they study improv technique. We will focus on character and emotion in improv, both in long and short form improv as well as group and individual improv. This class is great for beginners and non-actors as well as those with more experience. This class is repeatable as the material changes with the experience level of the students.
